Mayor
Des Plaines Forward Mayoral Voting Guide
The Mayor, as the chief executive officer of the City, ensures that all the laws and policies of the City are properly enforced and observed. In doing so, they must supervise the conduct of all City officers and departments and recommend to the City Council any measures they see pertinent to the well-being, security, or improvement of life in Des Plaines. It is the responsibility of the Mayor to preside over City Council meetings. City Clerk
Des Plaines Forward City Clerk Voting Guide
The City Clerk retains and administers the corporate seal, keeps all records, attends all meetings of the City Council and maintains a full record of its proceedings as specified in the City Code and State statute. The City Clerk is responsible for distributing agendas for the Council meetings. Aldermen for wards 1, 3, 5 & 7 – The City is divided into eight wards, with the residents of each ward electing an Alderman to represent the ward. The Council is the legislative body of the City, setting policy direction and enacting legislation affecting the City. desplaines.org/government/council/

Park District Board – The board is responsible for the development of park district policies, long range planning, and monthly review of district’s Financial and Operations Reports. Oakton Community College District 535 Board of Trustees – An eight-member Board of Trustees, who serve six-year terms, supports the Oakton President’s leadership. Des Plaines Forward Maine Township Voting Guide
Maine Township contains portions of Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Niles, Glenview, Morton Grove, and Rosemont. It’s mission is to improve the quality of life for its residents by providing services, general assistance, information, and programs in a fiscally responsible manner. Maine Township exists to serve the needs of our residents. Our services include:
- Assessor – provides assistance with property tax assessment appeals and exemptions
- Clerk – a central location for voter registration, passports, and refuse sticker purchases
- Code Enforcement – monitors compliance with local code ordinances in unincorporated area
- Emergency Management – provides resources and expertise in responding to local emergencies
- Food Pantry – provides food and holiday meals to needy families
- General Assistance – assists financially distressed residents by providing temporary financial assistance and advocacy services
- Highway – services and maintains roads in unincorporated area
- MaineStreamers – provides a variety of activities, trips, and recreational programs for seniors
- MaineStay Youth & Family Services – provides affordable strength-based counseling, psychiatric services, psychoeducational groups, and programs for at-risk youth
